Description: CSAP was originally designed to provide a snapshot of how well Colorado students were achieving the content standards in reading, writing, math and science, which were adopted in 1995. By 2000 CSAP included 8th grade math and science assessments, 7th grade reading and writing assessments, and a 3rd grade reading assessment. At its end, CSAP included reading, writing, and math assessments in grades 3 through 10 and science assessments in grades 5, 8, and 10.

PARCC
Full Name: Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers

Description: In compliance with legislation, Colorado joined the PARCC consortia as a governing member in August 2012. PARCC is a multi-state assessment consortium that is developing shared English language arts/literacy (ELA/L) and mathematics assessments. About 10 states participate in the consortium. TCAP
Full name: Transitional Colorado Assessment Program

Description: TCAP is Colorado’s standards-based assessment designed to provide a picture of student performance to schools, districts, educators, parents and the community. The primary purpose of the assessment program is to determine the level at which Colorado students meet the Colorado Model Content Standards in the content areas assessed. TCAP will continue to assess the same content areas and grades as CSAP: math, reading and writing in grades three through 10. Science will be assessed in fifth, eighth and 10th grades.
